Rejoice

Come and stand before your Maker full of wonder, full of fear; come, behold His power and glory yet with confidence draw near, for the One who holds the heavens and commands the stars above is the God who bends to bless us with an unrelenting love.

Chorus: Rejoice! Come and lift your hands and raise your voice; He is worthy of all praise. Rejoice! Sing the mercies of your King and with trembling rejoice.

We are children of the promise, the beloved of the Lord. Won with everlasting kindness, bought with sacrificial blood. Bringing reconciliation to a world that longs to know the affections of a Father who will never let them go.

All our sickness, all our sorrows Jesus carried up the hill. He has walked this path before us, He is walking with us still; turning tragedy to triumph, turning agony to praise, there is blessing in the battle so take heart and stand amazed.

Rejoice! When you cry to Him, He hears your voice; He will wipe away your tears. Rejoice! In the midst of suffering He will help you sing.

Call to Worship/Prayer of Invocation

The Love of God

The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell; it goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell; the guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win; His erring child He reconciled, and pardoned from his sin.

Chorus: O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure the saints’ and angels’ song!

When years of time shall pass away and earthly thrones and kingdoms fall, when men, who here refuse to pray, on rocks and hills and mountains call, God’s love so sure shall still endure, all measureless and strong; redeeming grace to Adam’s race the saints’ and angels’ song. Chorus

Could we with ink the ocean fill and were the skies of parchment made, were every stalk on earth a quill and every man a scribe by trade, to write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry; nor could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky.

I Will Wait for You (Psalm 130)

Out of the depths I cry to You, in darkest places I will call. Incline Your ear to me anew, and hear my cry for mercy, Lord.

Were You to count my sinful ways, how could I come before Your throne? Yet full forgiveness meets my gaze, I stand redeemed by grace alone.

Chorus: I will wait for You, I will wait for You, on Your word I will rely. I will wait for You, surely wait for You, till my soul is satisfied.

So, put Your hope in God alone, take courage in His power to save, completely and forever won by Christ emerging from the grave.

His steadfast love has made a way, and God Himself has paid the price, that all who trust in Him today find healing in His sacrifice. Chorus

I will wait for You, I will wait for You, through the storm and through the night. I will wait for You, surely wait for You, for Your love is my delight.

Corporate Confession of Sin

Bob Essmann, Ruling Elder

Heavenly Father, Loving King, our thoughts and motives cannot be hidden from Your sight. Our self-pity and pride, our cowardice and sloth, our anger and envy are laid bare before Your eyes and ours. We open ourselves to You and ask that You cover us in Christ. Let us believe His blood is our peace, His death is our freedom, His Spirit is our power. And let our hearts know that Your service is perfect freedom. Amen.

The Gut Reaction of a Christian

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper

New Covenant welcomes all baptized Christians who have forsaken their sin and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and who are members of congregations that proclaim the Gospel, to receive the Lord’s Supper with us. The elements will be passed through the rows in the sanctuary and in the fellowship hall. We wait to eat together as a family meal. Gluten free bread is provided.

Hymn No. 247 O Sacred Head, Now Wounded (During Communion)

Come, O Come, Thou Quickening Spirit

Come, O come, life-giving Spirit, God from all eternity! May your power never fail us; dwell within us constantly. Then shall truth and life and light banish all the gloom of night.

Show us, Lord, the path of blessing; when we trespass on our way, cast, O Lord, our sins behind You, and be with us day by day. Should we stray, O Lord, recall; work repentance when we fall.

Spirit, guard our faith forever; let not Satan, death, or shame ever part us from our Savior. Lord, our refuge is your name! When our hearts oppose Your will, let Your Word prove stronger still.

And when life’s frail thread is breaking, then assure us more and more. As the heirs of life unending, of the glory there in store, glory never yet expressed, glory of the saints at rest.
