Call to Worship/Prayer of Invocation

O Come, All Ye Faithful (Hymn No. 208)

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant; O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem!  Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;

Chorus: O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him; O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation, O sing, all ye bright hosts of heav’n above! Glory to God, all glory in the highest; Chorus

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning, Jesus, to Thee be all glory giv’n; Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing; Chorus

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (Hymn No. 194)

O come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel, that mourns in lonely exile here, until the Son of God appear.

Chorus: Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, O come, Thou Lord of might, Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai’s height, in ancient times didst give the law in cloud and majesty and awe. Chorus

O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from satan’s tyranny; from depths of hell Thy people save, and give them vict’ry o’er the grave. Chorus

O, come, Thou Dayspring from on high, and cheer us by Thy drawing nigh; disperse the gloomy clouds of night, and death’s dark shadows put to flight. Chorus

Christ, Our Hope in Life and Death

What is our hope in life and death? Christ alone, Christ alone. What is our only confidence? That our souls to Him belong. Who holds our days within His hand? What comes, apart from His command? And what will keep us to the end? The love of Christ in which we stand.

Chorus: O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal; O sing hallelujah! Now and ever we confess Christ our hope in life and death.

What truth can calm the troubled soul? God is good, God is good. Where is His grace and goodness known? In our great Redeemer’s blood. Who holds our faith when fears arise? Who stands above the stormy trial? Who sends the waves that bring us nigh unto the shore, the rock of Christ? Chorus

Unto the grave, what will we sing? “Christ, He lives; Christ, He lives!” And what reward will heaven bring? Everlasting life with Him. There we will rise to meet the Lord, then sin and death will be destroyed, and we will feast in endless joy, when Christ is ours forevermore. Chorus

Lighting of the Advent Wreath

Corporate Confession of Sin

Our Father, you are the One who created us and then, through Your Son, by the work of Your Spirit, recreated us. We come to You again as those needing forgiveness. Instead of being thankful, we have stewed. Instead of voicing thanksgiving to You, we grumbled. Not trusting Your faithfulness, we have sought our own paths and devised our own strategies. We confess that we are sinners in need of cleansing. Please apply the blood of Jesus to our stains and purify our hearts by Your Spirit. Thank You for Your great promises of reconciliation and restoration for those who cover themselves in the righteousness of Christ alone. We ask in His name. Amen

Morning Prayer

(Dismissal for Children’s Worship for Age 4 through Kindergarten.)

O Great God (** You Can Give by Text: Text "Give" to 757-500-8680. **)

O great God of highest heav’n, occupy my lowly heart. Own it all and reign supreme, conquer every rebel pow’r. Let no vice or sin remain that resists Your holy war. You have loved and purchased me, make me Yours forever more.

I was blinded by my sin, had no ears to hear Your voice, did not know Your love within, had no taste for heaven’s joys. Then Your Spirit gave me life, opened up Your word to me through the gospel of Your Son, gave me endless hope and peace.

Help me now to live a life that’s dependent on Your grace. Keep my heart and guard my soul from the evils that I face. You are worthy to be praised with my every thought and deed. O great God of highest heav’n, glorify Your name through me.

The Gospel Is for Everybody, Everywhere

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper

New Covenant welcomes all baptized Christians who have forsaken their sin and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and who are members of congregations that proclaim the Gospel, to receive the Lord’s Supper with us. Individuals pick up their elements from the tables in the sanctuary or in the fellowship hall and wait to eat together as a family meal. Gluten free bread is provided.

The Precious Blood (During Communion)

Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing (Hymn No. 457)

Come, Thou fount of ev’ry blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above; praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, mount of Thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer; hither by Thy help I’m come; and I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wand’ring from the fold of God: He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be! Let Thy grace, Lord, like a fetter, bind my wand’ring heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.
