On Jordan’s Stormy Banks

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand and cast a wishful eye to Canaan’s fair and happy land, where my possessions lie.

All o’er those wide extended plains, shines one eternal day. There God the Son forever reigns, and scatters night away.

Chorus: I am bound, (I am bound), I am bound, (I am bound), I am bound for the Promised Land.

No chilling winds nor poisonous breath can reach that healthful shore; sickness, sorrow, pain, and death are felt and feared no more. Chorus

When shall I reach that happy place and be forever blessed, when shall I see my Father’s face and in His bosom rest? Chorus

Call to Worship/Prayer of Invocation

I Will Wait for You (Psalm 130)

Lord, from the depths I call to You. Lord, hear me from on high and give attention to my voice when I for mercy cry.

Lord, in Your presence who can stand if You our sins record? But yet forgiveness is with You that we may fear You, Lord.

Out of the depths I cry to You, in darkest places I will call. Incline Your ear to me anew, and hear my cry for mercy, Lord.

Were You to count my sinful ways, how could I come before Your throne? Yet full forgiveness meets my gaze, I stand redeemed by grace alone.

Chorus: I will wait for You, I will wait for You, on Your word I will rely. I will wait for You, surely wait for You, till my soul is satisfied.

So, put Your hope in God alone, take courage in His power to save, completely and forever won by Christ emerging from the grave.

His steadfast love has made a way, and God Himself has paid the price, that all who trust in Him today find healing in His sacrifice.

I will wait for You, I will wait for You, through the storm and through the night. I will wait for You, surely wait for You, for Your love is my delight.

Death Was Arrested

Alone in my sorrow and dead in my sin, lost without hope with no place to begin; Your love made a way to let mercy come in, when death was arrested and my life began.

Ash was redeemed, only beauty remains; my orphan heart was given a name. My mourning grew quiet, my feet rose to dance, when death was arrested and my life began.

Chorus: Oh, Your grace, so free, washes over me. You have made me new, now life begins with You. It’s Your endless love pouring down on us. You have made us new, now life begins with You.

Released from my chains, I’m a pris’ner no more. My shame was a ransom He faithfully bore. He cancelled my debt and He called me His friend, when death was arrested and my life began.

Our Savior displayed on a criminal’s cross. Darkness rejoiced as though heaven had lost. But then Jesus arose with our freedom in hand. That’s when death was arrested and my life began.

Bridge: Oh, we’re free, free; forever we’re free. Come join the song of all the redeemed. Yes, we’re free, free; forever, amen. When death was arrested and my life began.

Corporate Confession of Sin

Pastor Tim Dryden

Blessed Lord Jesus, no human mind could conceive or invent the gospel. Acting in eternal love, You are both its message and its Messenger. Thank You for contriving this way to rescue me. It is fitting that You should not regard me, for I am sinful and selfish, but when I seek You and find You there is no wrath to devour me, but only Your sweet love. It is Your will that I should love You with heart, soul, mind, and strength and my neighbor as myself. But I am not sufficient for these things. Order all my ways by Your Holy Word, and make Your commandments the joy of my heart. May I grow in Your love and manifest it to others. For Your glory, Amen.

Morning Prayer

Living Hope

How great the chasm that lay between us. How high the mountain I could not climb. In desperation I turned to heaven and spoke Your name into the night. Then through the darkness Your loving-kindness tore through the shadows of my soul. The work is finished, the end is written. Jesus Christ, my living hope.

Who could imagine so great a mercy? What heart could fathom such boundless grace? The God of ages stepped down from glory to wear my sin and bear my shame. The cross has spoken; I am forgiven. The King of kings calls me His own. Beautiful Savior, I’m Yours forever. Jesus Christ, my living hope.

Chorus: Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free! Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me! You have broken every chain. There’s salvation in Your name. Jesus Christ, my living hope.

Then came the morning that sealed the promise, Your buried body began to breathe. Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion declared the grave has no claim on me. Jesus, Yours is the victory!

Jesus Christ, my living hope. Oh God, You are my living hope.

How Can I Keep from Singing (Sung During Communion)

My life flows on in endless song above earth’s lamentation. I hear the real though far-off hymn that hails a new creation.

Chorus: No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that rock I’m clinging. Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?

Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear that music ringing; it sounds and echoes in my soul; how can I keep from singing?

What, though the joys and comforts die, the Lord, my Savior liveth. What though the darkness gather ’round? Songs in the night it giveth.

The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, a fountain ever springing. All things are mine since I am His; how can I keep from singing?

I Surrender All (Hymn No. 562)

All to Jesus I surrender; all to Him I freely give; may I ever love and trust Him, in His presence daily live.

Chorus: I surrender all, I surrender all; all to Thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender; Lord, I give myself to Thee; fill me with Thy love and power; let Thy blessing fall on me.

All to Jesus I surrender; now I feel the sacred flame. O the joy of full salvation; glory, glory to His name.

It is well with my soul. It is well, it is well, with my soul.
