The Book of James is the red-headed stepchild of the New Testament. Martin Luther gives it a black eye by calling it “an epistle of straw,” partially due to its limited mention of Jesus. However, John Calvin and many other notable theologians rigorously affirm it as an extremely helpful work, helping believers wed their daily lives with their theology. The series title, Faith That Works, sums up James’ message of hope to the displaced and desperate.
