Call to Worship/Prayer of Invocation

Psalm 62 (My Soul Finds Rest in God Alone)

My soul finds rest in God alone, my rock and my salvation, a fortress strong against my foes, and I will not be shaken. Though lips may bless, and hearts may curse, and lies, like arrows, pierce me, I’ll fix my heart on righteousness; I’ll look to Him who hears me.

Chorus: O praise Him, hallelujah, my Delight and my Reward. Everlasting, never failing; my Redeemer, my God.

Find rest, my soul, in God alone amid the world’s temptations. When evil seeks to take a hold, I’ll cling to my salvation. Though riches, come and riches go, don’t set your heart upon them. The fields of hope in which I sow are harvested in heaven. Chorus

I’ll set my gaze on God alone, and trust in Him completely; with ev’ry day pour out my soul, and He will prove His mercy. Though life is but a fleeting breath, a sigh too deep to measure, my King has crushed the curse of death, and I am His forever. Chorus

Bridge: O praise Him, O praise Him, hallelujah, hallelujah! O praise Him, O praise Him, hallelujah, hallelujah! O praise Him, O praise Him, hallelujah, hallelujah! Chorus

Blessed Assurance

Blessed assurance Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Chorus: This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight; angels descending, bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love. Chorus

Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Savior am happy and blest; watching and waiting, looking above, filled with His goodness, lost in His love. Chorus

Corporate Confession of Sin

Bob Essmann, Ruling Elder

Our Father, save us entirely from sin. Enable us to recognize our death to sin. When it tempts, may we be deaf to its voice. Deliver us from the invasion as well as the dominion of sin. Forgive, and kill our vices of laziness, envy, and pride. Have mercy on our unbelief, on our corrupt and wandering hearts. When Your blessings come we begin to idolize them and set our affections on some other beloved object – children, friends, success, wealth, honor; cleanse this spiritual adultery and give us purity of heart; close our hearts to all but You. Help us to be always devoted, confident, obedient, resigned, childlike in our trust of You. Fill us with Your grace daily. We ask in the name of Your Son. Amen.

Morning Prayer

(Dismissal for Children’s Worship for Age 4 through Kindergarten.)

As Long as You Are Glorified (** You Can Give by Text: Text "Give" to 757-500-8680. **)

Shall I take from Your hand Your blessings, yet not welcome any pain? Shall I thank You for days of sunshine yet grumble in days of rain? Shall I love You in times of plenty, then leave You in days of drought? Shall I trust when I reap a harvest, but when winter winds blow, then doubt?

Chorus: Oh, let Your will be done in me, in Your love I will abide; oh, I long for nothing else as long as You are glorified.

Are You good only when I prosper, and true only when I’m filled? Are You King only when I’m carefree, and God only when I’m well? You are good when I’m poor and needy; You are true when I’m parched and dry; You still reign in the deepest valley; You’re still God in the darkest night.

Bridge: So, quiet my restless heart; quiet my restless heart; quiet my restless heart in You.

The New Birth – A Work of God

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper

New Covenant welcomes all baptized Christians who have forsaken their sin and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and who are members of congregations that proclaim the Gospel, to receive the Lord’s Supper with us. Individuals pick up their elements from the tables in the sanctuary or in the fellowship hall and wait to eat together as a family meal. Gluten free bread is provided.

Jesus, Thank You (During Communion)

Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit, living Breath of God, breathe new life into my willing soul. Let the presence of the risen Lord come renew my heart and make me whole. Cause Your word to come alive in me; give me faith for what I cannot see, give me passion for Your purity; Holy Spirit breathe new life in me.

Holy Spirit, come abide within, may Your joy be seen in all I do. Love enough to cover ev’ry sin, in each thought and deed and attitude. Kindness to the greatest and the least, gentleness that sows the path of peace. Turn my strivings into works of grace; Breath of God, show Christ in all I do.

Holy Spirit, from creation’s birth, giving life to all that God has made, show Your power once again on earth, cause Your church to hunger for Your ways. Let the fragrance of our pray’rs arise; lead us on the road of sacrifice, that in unity the face of Christ may be clear for all the world to see.
